Burglary at Easy Racers?

A thread over on BROL indicated the Easy Racers plant was clobbered over the holidays. I know that a demoralizing loss like this can take months of slow recovery before things are back to normal.

Denton and crew: I think I speak for all of your cutomers and fans, we're sorry for your loss and hope the damage isn't monstrous.

I am also aware how important capital will be after insurance claims are filed because the check will be a long time coming. Somehow, you've got to let us know what you've got on hand and need to or would like to move. Maybe some of us can make a few major pre-season purchases. For instance, got any bodyskins on the shelves?

Hoping for the best possible outcome for you and your employees.

Discussion over at BROL was closed and locked. Several posts speculated there's no story to be told and the police dept's online reporting service indicates nothing happened and another guy asked a reasonable question but, still, there is no love or pity over there. Seems to have a hit a nerve. ER does not advertise on BROL. Maybe that's it.

Dunno.

But silence from Easy Racers is not a good sign.

According to Leticia Sanchez, spokesperson for the Watsonville, CA police department, the last communication received from Easy Racers, Inc of 10 Hanger Way occurred on 11/21/2011 and was for a reported vandalism incident. I obtained this information directly via telephone (831)768-3300.

Burglary @ Easy Racers

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to our customers with words support and well wishes.
I am currently totally overwhelmed at the moment, but feel the need to set a few things strait before returning to more urgent matters.
We did have a break in in November. The owner and administrative staff were NOT PRESENT for the incident. Warehouse staff called the police department and only reported that a window was smashed out. For some reason, neither party considered that anyone may have entered the building and/or potentially stolen any property. This is why the police report was for a vandalizm.
I have have the daunting task of setting up all new bank accounts, credit card processing, etc. to prevent further theft or fraud.
We trying to determine the losses, beyond that, I do not think it is necessary to publish anymore of the company's personal business.
Again, I thank those of you who offer well wishes and support.

I believe it was ezracerman who initiated the dialogue with a post on BROL. It was him who placed this issue out in a public forum. He stated,
"We returned to work to discover that we had been broken into and suffered a tremendous loss,so we are reeling from that, but we are here and trying to take care of our customers needs." That was the only information that was obtained from a private/personal source. All other information was obtained from a public source. You need to direct your post to Mr. ezracerman, who represents himself on BROL as an Easy Racers employee. According to the police, a public source, and I quote their email "Hi: the last report taken from 10 Hangar Way was on November 21, 2011. A broken window (vandalism), not big enough for anyone to crawl through. No other property damaged and nothing taken."

The silence has been deafening. In my view, it does not bode well.

If they have had a major problem, I'm truly sorry. BUT, they have had time to access the situation, figure out what to do about it, develop a plan of action, and move on.

Telling us what is going on, or giving us some sort of reassurance that they are serious about the business seems like it would be worthwhile start. And, it wouldn't cost a thing.

I'm keeping my money in my pocket for the foreseeable future.

Agree...there is some confusion here in terms of...

...having a sense of responsibility to your customers. To go "dark" for more than a month then to push back with, "I do not think it is necessary to publish anymore of the company's personal business..." is, well, a little inappropriate. I would respectfully suggest that you, Christine, encourage Denton to offer a public announcement/update on the state of ER -- front and center -- on the home page of the website. I am afraid that in the absence of some major reasuring declaration, your customer base is in danger of eroding fast. This is a very small community and subculture.

Best wishes to the ER team in working through this!

I'm as curious as the next person to learn what happened. But the details may not be suitable for public airing...think about hind-sight discussions for how it could have been avoided, or the headaches of now having to deal with insurance issues ..

My thoughts and best wishes to the Easy Racer team in sorting through all the issues that probably surround this event! You've got a big rooting team behind you
