I finally got out for my maiden voyage on my new (used) Fold Rush. It actually came almost 2 weeks ago but the rear aerospoke wheel had a slight wobble to it and the disk brakes needed new pads. Aerospoke was great taking care of the wheel and with a couple new pads I was set to go.

I should have brought along some wrenches to adjust the seat. I realized quickly that it needed to be moved back or the back reclined to give me a little more reach. But, after waiting two weeks the last thing I wanted to do was turn around and mess with the seat!

Anyway, I rode just over 30 miles. It felt great, a smooth ride. My first big hill I think the speed topped out at just over 46 mph. This is even with very wide tires (1.75 width front and back!). I have some Stelvios that just came that I will install when I'm ready for more speed. My average speed was still faster than the V2 that this is replacing.

I adjusted the seat tonight and I also tried the bodysock briefly tonight for a short ride but didn't have time to really test it. I think I will be a VERY happy biker for some time to come!

No question, Mark. The Fold Rush is a superb bike, and you will grow to love it more the longer you ride it. Next to my wife, it is the pleasure of my life. Ray

Mark, your reference to Stelvios giving more speed puzzles me. What's the story. I too have a Fold Rush and hit 46mph smoking down a mountain. Thrilling; however, I decided to curb my 21 yr. old attitude and adjust to my 72 yr. old reality and keep it down from now on. It's called "saging".

My top on a FR has been 52 mph. Then common sense kicked in and I thought about how it would feel if I went down at that speed. Ray

Well I've had a few more rides now. I put the seatback into a slightly less vertical position and it gave me a little more legroom.

How much stem is it necessary to have in the headset above the fork? I would like to get the fairing a little higher (my head is probably a foot and a half above it now) and the handlebars a little closer.

I put the Stelvios on yesterday. The front seems great. The rear I have had problems with the tube getting pinched and getting the bead to seat on the rim. After two flats I went to the LBS and they put the tire/tube on. I had another flat after only 15 miles. ( Maybe there is a problem with the Aerospoke and the Stelvio 25mm tire?) I put in a new tube (again!) and limped home rather than finishing the club ride.

I also went for a 45 mile ride on Sunday a.m. with the bodysock on a windy day. I see definite aero advantages, especially heading into a strong wind.

Fold Rush and Stelvios

Mark,

I had the same problem with Stelvios on the rear of my TI Rush. They didn't go flat all the time, but sometimes, and it was a hassle because I have a disk brake on that wheel and it has to come off before I can remount the wheel.

Anyway, I replaced the Stelvio with a Marathon Slick and was amazed at the result. It didn't slow me down a bit. Nice tire, and strong too!

The Marathon Slick is a very nice tire. I use them on almost all of my personal bikes. They're not terribly quick but they're not too bad. Tough as hell too. Even not bad in the rain. I have one on the back of my FR also but still have a Stelvio on the front (451 wheel).
