I am in the process of replacing my Medium Gold Rush, and building up my new M/L Gold Rush. I will be using an Ultegra 9spd FC-6503 Octalink crank set.

Having "knee issues", I want to use the best BB I can find. My impression is that I will not be able to consider ceramic bearings given the age of the set. What do you suggest as the best BB for this crank?

Hi Mollyzdad,

Bottom bracket or not, consider either Q-Rings or a true Rotor Crank to help with knee problems. I have Rotor Cranks on my C-Rush and there is no dead spot--great for uphills!
